Backpacker area and cheap hotal in Manila

I believe that one place frequeneted by backpackers is Malate Pensione. Malate and Ermita is where the cheaper accommodation is (mind you, the Hyatt is also here as are a growing number of mid-range hotels).

It is reviewed on TripAdvisor, so search for it.

In the same area as the other suggestions, is the backpackers main haunt called Friendly%26#39;s Guesthouse. It is around the 1600 block of Adriatico Street in Malate. You can get a shared room for 200 pesos ($4 USD) a night. They have a lively balconey and on Saturday evenings they have a wine tasting for all. Strictly for those watching their pesos as they backpack around the world. Really bare accomodations.

You can easily get a bus from Manila to Baguio at one of many bus stations in either Pasay (close to Malate) or Cubao. Probably an 8 hr drive. It should be less than $10 USD for air conditioned bus.

If you are looking to save money and see Manila, consider making use of the above ground inter-city trains (MRT, LRT) and the Pasig River Ferry. They will save you alot of money. Get you there much faster than taxis in the daytime. Be warned, however, they won%26#39;t let you carry luggage on the trains. They do allow a small to mid-size backpack, however.

only 5 to 6 hours to baguio. :)

www.victoryliner.com/tripschedules2.htm

From Manila to Baguio the safest bus line company is Victory Liner Php 480 or $10USD per person.

You may also try GENESIS Bus Liner in Tayuman Terminal Manila Php420 cheaper than Victory Liner

Travel time 6hours

Better leave Manila at 12am the you will be arriving at around 5:45am in Baguio.

If u need cheap accomodations just let me know...thanks. My family owns a transient house in front of St. Louis University Gen. Luna Street
