Cebu - A Honeymoon Destination????

Hi,

I have been advised through a post that I submitted on the Mauritius Forum that Cebu was an excellent place for Honeymooners.

I am not convinced from what i have seen so far but maybe i am looking in the wrong places. Can anyone help me find a isolated, secluded area where i can spend time with my Wife without the company of hunderds of people and kids?

What will the weather be like in July/August???

Thank You in Advance

Cebu - A Honeymoon Destination????

Hi Jiggsy205,

Among many island destinations in the Philippines, Cebu is probably one of the best for honeymoon. Most of the hotels have its own private beach for guests only. You don%26#39;t have to worry about the hawkers and huge crowd. We stayed at the Shangrila Hotel in Mactan Island 2 years ago. It%26#39;s a great hotel, excellent spa ( couples massage with private villa is highly recommended) and facilities are awesome. I%26#39;t a big resort, but doesnt%26#39; feel crowded at all. If you want more privacy, there%26#39;s a dozen smaller hotel options in Mactan area or nearby.

We are going to El Nido, Palawan on Christmas and this is another place I would recommend. We are staying at Miniloc Resort, one of 2 luxury resorts in El Nido (Lagen Resort is the other one). Google the El Nido Resort to get more information about this place. Although we haven%26#39;t been here (yet), it%26#39;s on top of my list. The place is amazing!

Another option is AMANPULO in Cuyo Island, also in Palawan. It has all the recipes of a perfect honeymoon getaway that will surely break the bank!

And by the way, July/August fall under wet season in the Philippines. How wet? Maybe the locals would be able to fill you in on this.

I agree that Palawan would be an excellent choice, particularly the El Nido area.

The Philippines is a great choice for honeymooners, because there are fewer Westerners than in Bali or Thailand. Comprehension of English is also far better, and the food is now often excellent (not the case 17 years ago on my first visit).

Cebu has a number of luxury resorts but if you want to be surrounded by only a few people, these may not be for you.

You could also consider a resort near Davao: Pearl Farm. I have not been to it but I gather that it is secluded. Read the reviews on this site.

Davao is easy to reach by either Cebu Pacific Airlines (my persopnal favourite) or Philippine Airlines/ Air Philippines/ PALExpress (the latter all the one company). If booking online with Cebu Pacific, try to have a Visa or MasterCard that has been %26#39;verified by Visa%26#39; or the MasterCard equivalemnt, because some travellers complain that trying to purchase tickets online without this additional security step is unsuccessful.

I hope that you have a wonderful honeymoon.

Try to check this website to see pictures of Cebu and other places to visit in the Philippines.

If all you want is the resort and don%26#39;t care for the surrounds outside the resort, then I will second the Shangri La as a good honeymoon choice.

However, if you are seeking a pretty holiday island, Mactan isn%26#39;t it.

Mactan island, Cebu, is a place of factories, industry, slums and the airport. It just happens to have some isolated resorts on the best bits.

If you want to be really isolated on a nice island, try a resort on Malapascua island or one of the Camotes islands, in the Cebu province. Google Camotes and/or Malapascua for more info.

Hi Jiggsy205,

To answer your question/desire to stay in an isolated and secluded area, try and search through this website, http://www.alegrebeachresort.com/.

July/August is the start of rainy season. But most probably, not much rain this year as expected.
