Panglao 2009 Itinerary and queries

G%26#39;day

My target dates are between late Jan to early Feb %26#39;09. I hope its not too late.

Im contemplating a stay in Amorita and avail of their Package Countryside tours and probably move to another place (like BBC or elsewhere)

for another 2 or 3 nights more. Total stay is 5 days 4 nights (or even + 1 more night).

why Amorita? - good reviews, and package tour is hassle free for me, access to main beach and other restaurants.

or

Go with BBC for the entire 5 days and consult with Majuro%26#39;s reference on Travel Treats Tour ( i dont know their rates yet).

Why BBC? - i like to swim and i would want a good beach for such (no parked boats at the shore, very little corals).

- a quiet beach is relaxing, a crowded beach is no different than a mall.

question on BBC - why a hefty fee on a trike ride to the other beaches , cant you just walk along the coast or is it blocked /divided

by cliffs? the not so good reviews on food and service is also making me hesitant and their wide beachfront is still winning me over.

am I too late for my planned dates? is that time on a peak season?

if you have better suggestions, please do so. i%26#39;m all ears. I just came up with my itinerary based on a few quick searches and research here in TA

Thanks

Panglao 2009 Itinerary and queries

Hi, We just spent time in Panglao. Stayed at Amorita, it is the best on the beach for accommodation but I suggest skipping their meal package. Meals are better and more interesting down the beach at less than half the price - and you can sit right on the beach. For a different meal try the Italian restaurant Kumalig.

You can organize your own transport to the Chocolate Hills for less than the tour company price and be by yourself, way better.

Do the Tarsirs at the rehabiltation center, not on the road to the Chocolate Hills. The Tarsirs are worth the trip!.

We did a 3 day trip to Siquijor, hired a boat from the beach but you can also take the catamarans. On Siquijor the Coconut Grove is super and has the best snorkeling. As with most of Asia - not many fish left but Siquijor had the best fish by far.

The BBC is isolated - you cannot walk to the main beach of Panglao. The swimming is not very interesting off either beach - you really need to take the boats out to the islands.

Hope this helps.
