boracay paradise or paradise lost?

i heard a lot of good comments about boracay and i really want to go there before with my husband. but if you think about it, boracay now is jammed with hotels and there is no place anymore to be on your own and unwind . so to me i will give boracay a miss. and good luck to all the people who loves boracay!!!!

one more thing, where do all the sewage go? BORACAY is only 1 km wide and about 9 km long.

boracay paradise or paradise lost?

one can still find a ';quiet'; spot in Boracay..even on a busy station 2 , i have seen a wide part of the beach where there were no beach beds and not much people. further north is even better where i was located.

its all about picking the right time and the right resort based on your needs.

for total seclusion, i would go to a privately owned island and not boracay.

after for the sewage, there is a sewage treatment plant which i thiink is already operational but i cannot vouch if all establishments have connected their pipes to this system.

What is the point of your posting? Your comment:

simply isn%26#39;t true. Many areas of the island are still quiet, as you would discover if you came here in person instead of simply posting negative comments from afar!

The central area of White Beach is quite crowded, but the northern and southern areas are peaceful most of the year round. Certain months are relatively crowd free whilst still having good weather, such as October and November.

Other times of year (such as holy week) the island is packed with people and best avoided unless you like chaos!

I think you%26#39;ve made a wise decision. We were very disappointed last June when we visited Boracay. It was crowded, and algae covered the water, trash was strewn around the beach, and the pollution from the tricycles was awful along the main roadway... (You get the picture.)

The paradise we found while visiting the Philippines was Pagudpud on the coast of the South China Sea. It was beautiful, there were a number of resorts, but spread out... I looked out along the beach only to see beautiful sand, water, etc. Not a lot of people and trash and pollution.

The key to finding paradise is to find a place which has been discovered by enough tourists that you can find someone to talk with over a cold beer, but which has not been targeted for ';development '; (a severe misnomer, there) by the Department of tourism.

Algae in June?? Are you sure? June is raining season and by the time the the habagat (north west monsoon) kicks in, the algae has long since disappeared. Same with the crowds. As for the main road, it is easily avoided.

based from my research and comments by most people who have been to boracay, boracay is still beautiful and worth the trip. i honestly think that the people who constantly make disparaging comments against boracay are dying inside to go there. and really, what%26#39;s the point of such negative feedback especially if you haven%26#39;t been to the place? it makes no sense.

I still think it is beautiful and worth the trip - at least for now. I try to reserve my disparaging comments for those greedy developers and corrupt local officials who are intent on destroying it!

If you are looking for an unspoilt or undeveloped destination then Boracay is not for you (Palawan would be a better choice) but there%26#39;s still a lot to offer here.

Hi there...

Depends on who youre talking to...

Boracay has a new found popularity thanks to local budget airfares.

First time I went a long time ago after high school, it was drudgery to travel from Kalibo (you should hear my parents first trip, they went down a ships ladder to a dinghy more than 25 years ago) but arriving there was quite precious. Just the real sea (and no sea of humanity) and being able to walk around in slippers and beach apparel without having to ';dress-up';.

There are still pockets of quiet on the island... especially bulabog and the other areas. Its just a matter of knowing where to go and avoid the ';city slicker-pinoy spring breaker'; types who go to the island...

(read:wasted, get wasted, wasting away, doesnt throw waste properly)

Small annoyances but still a nice place for me after almost 17

years.

Pagudpod is overrated. I would rather go to some Palawan islets for seclusion. Going to Ilocos? Skip it and hop to Batanes. Culture? Hmm.. Skip Vigan and go to Iloilo and Tagbilaran City where there are more ancestral houses scattered all over the city

There must be some reason why travel photographers all over the world always rate Boracay as one of the the best beaches in the world.

My last visit to Boracay last October was fantastic. The beaches were clean, the weather was totally fine and the water was clean. There were no heavy crowds. Ill be back next month again for three days.

But dont take my word for it. My friends from all over the world went gaga over the island, and they were regulars ever since. :)

In fairness , they used to say that. These days they don%26#39;t do so as much due to the overbearing ad campaigns with telecom banners draped from every tree, and even on the sails of the paraws. It ruins the pictures. As does the sheer ugliness of some of the new hotels!

But there are still some stunning scenes to take your breath away, and some of my favourite photos have been taken either early in the morning, at sunset, or on more secluded beaches and coves such as Puka Beach.
