want to know

Hi. My family of 4 will be travelling to Philippines this year. We are considering staying at Pearl Lane Hotel in Malate. Was wondering if anyone has stayed there and if they can express their views about the place. Many thanks :)

want to know

I haven%26#39;t seen this hotel yet but I checked the website and it looks new. The location seems central to shopping areas and restaurants.

Just my advice, do not change your currency in the money exchange shops that abound in that area since they are known to trick customers with their fast hands.

Don%26#39;t change your money in the hotel.Very bad rate.

...and the questioner is not asking for money exchange.

I stayed there in October 2008 and found it to be the cleanest 3 star hotel that I have ever stayed in Manila. This is a fairly new hotel with a sister hotel Pearl Garden nearby. The room (superior) was well equipped with fridge, TV, in room safe and table %26amp; chair. The bathroom has no bath only a shower but with good water pressure %26amp; plenty of hot water which is a plus. The breakfast that they provide (I only needed toast) was adequate. The reception area although on the small side had very efficient %26amp; pleasent staff both in checking in and out whilst the rest of the staff were all very pleasent and willing to help if requested. It%26#39;s location is within walking distance (less than 5 minutes)to Robinsons Mall and there are plenty of good eating establishments in the area if one does not want to use the hotels restaurant. I will be returning to this hotel in the future and have recommended it to all my friends also very good value for money. I suggest that you have the hotel pick you up at the airport. Hope that this helps

If it is a Pearl Hotel, forget it. Better stay in Makati City not in Manila City

Thank you all for your replies xD

The Pearl Hotel is different to the Pearl Lane Hotel

I have not seen the hotels in Malate and I am sure most of them are clean and big compare to European hotels. But if you have small or teenage children with you, I cannot understand why anyone would stay in the Ermita or Malate area. if there is not that big a difference, I hope you will opt to stay in Makati(Intercon, Shangrila,Mandarin,Peninsula) or Mandaluyong area(EDSA Shangrila, Richmonde hotel, etc.), most esp if you have younger kids, or even to go shopping.

You are right about Malate if there are children in the party. The hotels that you named instead are very good indeed only their cost is approx. 3 to 5 times as much as the Pearl Lane

Just got back from the Pearl Lane in Malate - it%26#39;s good for location, near to big shopping mall and lots of taxis and restaurants in the area. It%26#39;s clean but nothing special but for the price and location I%26#39;d consider it again. Buffet breakfast is rather disappointing. Free wi-fi but a charge to use the downstairs internet!
