It appears that www.asiatravel.com is offering a so-called %26#39;Crazy Rate%26#39; of US$80 per night for a five star hotel in Metro Manila (Makati) that I suspect is the Mandarin Oriental. This is far lower than the normal rate that most Internet travel booking sites charge for this hotel and indicative of discounting.
It has been on offer under this Internet site%26#39;s Phillipines page (refer to Manila hotels listed) for at least two weeks.
I have read elsewhere about hotel occupancies naturally dropping somewhat, by an initial two opr three per cent across all price categories, due to the global financial crisis.
Is anyone aware of five-star hotels in Manila bay/ Ermita, Makati, Cebu or Davao offering %26#39;walk in%26#39; rates that are as low or lower than US$80?
Are these cheap walk-in rates available more on weekdays or weekends?
