Mars bar or ??????

I went for my daily walk this morning with my young daughter, we live in the station 1 area and normally will stroll as far south as the tourist centre staion 3. It was such a nice morning we decided to walk a bit further south, has been quite awhile sice I have been that end of the island. We walked along the beach until where all the boats now gather, since being removed from the main beach. I noticed in the water what appeared to be a poo poo along with a lot of general washed up garbage. I thought this strange as it was only along a small section of the waters edge. Then I realised the large number of boats, many with several persons aboard, some even cooking meals on them. Do these boats have toilets etc. My concern is who is doing what from the boats, does the co op provide a basic toilet etc for these live aboard boatman.

I truly hope I was mistaken, perhaps it was a Mars bar, any way I dont think myself or family will be swimming in that area.

Mars bar or ??????

great point, those boats we used did NOT have toilets, all goes overboard. You raise an excellent point, while they chase dogs so they will not poop on the beach, who is chasing the boatmen who in large numbers outnumber the dogs and whose toilet habits on the beach are not much better. The boat coop doesnt give a crap (no pun intended) as long as they get paid their dues.

Mars bar or ??????

Yes, you are right. It may well have been dog poop as there are still plenty of dogs loose on the beach. But those boatmen are no doubt emptying their bowels overboard, as well as the bilges!

I%26#39;d like to see all those motorboats anchored somewhere else, not on White Beach. Not only do they pollute, but they spoil the view.

Human excrement has lesser specific gravity than water and Mars bar will definitely sink in sea water.

Dogs do it on the beach, much away from the water, and it is likely that what you saw human pooh pooh from outsigger crew.

Local Boracaynon and Aklanons (and nearby) are natural fisherman and sea people. They would not think twice of doing it on the sea if nature call for it. Even their woman and children would do it.

Hey, afterall, poh pooh is a feast for local fish, for all you know.

Yes - these boats have a toilet: the sea. Same with the hundred of vendors plying the beach pathway daily: their toilet is any hidden corner and/or empty lots a little back of the White Beach. Late at night they use also the vegetation area of the White Beach as toilet. These toilets are provided by the Municipal Government and paid for by the Environmental guarantee Fee of 50 Peso each tourist has to pay.

edwinic,

...your knowledge of the specific density of excrement is disturbing...ha ha

....perhaps the Mayor and Council should show to all the citizens of Boracay how clean the beach is by taking weekly early morning swims in the boat area

..surely a world class destination like Boracay could provide necessary facilities considering the huge amount of money being made from the environmental fees

Rob

good one, rob. i admit, im good at it..haha!

%26lt;%26lt;Dogs do it on the beach, much away from the water%26gt;%26gt;

Yes they do it on the beach but then the tide comes up and deposits it in the water.

The dogs don%26#39;t seem to be concerned about how close to the water they are when they poop!

Sorry to offend the dog lovers on this forum but I find it unpleasant to see dogs roaming on the beach, urinating and defecating everywhere.

I recently saw several dogs pass by one particular spot on the beach and p1ss all over a beach chair, which some unfortunate soul then went and sat in, and who wants their sunset view spoilt by a dog taking a cr@p in front of them?

YEs, YES, YES. You are right: The dogs are the problems of the island. According to USec and general V. Gil, the dogs are the reason for the E Choli pollution at some parts of the beach. Easy, diba? Solution is clear = no more dogs, no more E Choli and other environmental problems.

At the White Beach there are maybe a handful of dogs left. That means the E holi problem is almost solved. Halleluja....

The dogs are a part of the problem for sure, but I don%26#39;t think anyone is saying they are the whole problem.

Some areas are being neglected in terms of the enforcement of rules and regulations. In Angol we have to put up with a fleet of bancas moored just a few meters from the shore %26amp; illegal traffic roaring up and down the beach pathway, as well as the dogs which are still roaming the beach.

Sirenna: read my input. It was said officially in a meeting that dogs are the cause of the Choliform problem. Dog Catching is implemented where it is easy to do so and where the car can drive easily. In other areas, for example the other beaches, dog catching is not enforced, because the squatter and the ones living under squalid conditions keep the dogs as %26#39;pulutan%26#39; and if they want to catch them, the people there threatend the catchers with violence.

Why implement in areas where there are problems? Better look for some nicely groomed dogs between Tourist center and Boracay Terraces. This is also a better income...

Where are the hundreds, if not thousands of boat men, vendors, massahistas, commissioners, stand-by%26#39;s supposed to go to toilet?
