Are am ex cards widely accepted in the philippines???

No not that i found and not even american express travelers checks.

American Express is accepted in the Philippines at pretty much every tourist spot. Be forewarned, however, that some establishments will say ';Our machine is not working'; as Am Exp charges the retailer more than other cards. Major malls always take the card without problems.

Am Exp has an office in Manila (Makati( if you need it or lose a card.

Be sure to let Am Exp (and all other credit cards) know when you will be in and out of the Philippines to protect you. I have, on occassion, had my credit card blocked if I purchase household goods or alot of electronics because the credit card company is concerned that someone may have lifted the number and went on a shopping spree of their own. It is a bit of a hassle, but all you have to do is call them and they reinstate your priveledges.

Amex is accepted in BPI ATM machines.

BPI has thousands of ATM machines throughout the Philippines.

So, if you have ATM access with your Amex card, you will have plenty of opportunity to use it.

Otherwise, in the big cities such as Manila and Cebu City, your Amex card will be widely accepted. Out in the provinces, you can expect to have trouble finding places to accept Amex.
