Mermaids has both of those, but in their beach location, not the main building (which is up the hill not beachfront).

I stayed at Mermaids a while back for OW/AOW. There%26#39;s a dive shop right on the beach and 9 rooms. They kept calling it a %26#39;dive hostel%26#39; b4 I arrived and made me worried but it turned out nice. They were doing some renovating when I left so maybe more rooms or larger. Very clean, TV/cable, aircon, private shower, etc... still dont know how they were getting the term %26#39;hostel%26#39;.

The rooms were upstairs and 2 of them had balcony views although everything is pretty much with a beach view. Diveshop downstairs is run by Ricki, pretty laid back guy, cool cat. Its an open-air balcony and you can see down into the shop. Theres a bar down there where the security person also stays and they%26#39;re available to serve a beer 24/7.

Their main building is a couple minute walk up the hill and is way nicer-- and way more expensive. Really not too much all-in-all but still a huge difference. Also a pool here where new students do their skills tests as well as a general pool for hanging out. Good bar and resto there.

Look online and you%26#39;ll see that Sabang beach isnt much in the %26#39;beachy%26#39; class. I wouldnt walk there barefoot but that was a little over a year ago. Its a good place for both kinds of diving, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ve heard.

As far as other places go, I%26#39;ve seen a lot of the pics of Austrian/German/Swiss places and its all the same, no-one directly on the beach has a nice big room unless you%26#39;re paying out some large cash.

Another plus of Mermaids is its upper balcony connected to Capt%26#39;n Greggs restaurant. They also have some rooms and a dive shop of their own, but the resto upstairs is the best place I ate in 3 weeks there.
