We are planning on being in Donsol Feb 1-4, 2009. this is a detour on the way from palau to hong kong. I%26#39;ve read that the whale shark season is March and April. Will the beginning of feb be too early to see whale sharks? We don%26#39;t want to make the effort of stopping in the philippines if there won%26#39;t be any sharks. thanks

Dont worry, we will kindly ask the sharks to show up on Feb 1-4.

I don%26#39;t know if this is a joke or not...Obviously sightings can%26#39;t be guaranteed or ';preorderd';. I was just wondering if there are any sightings of sharks at all during the beginning of february over the last years since I read that the season is april and march. thanks
';These gentle giants arrive from as early as November but the official season starts from February and runs until end of May, where the sea of Donsol is at its clearest and calmest. Local tourism officials and professional divers have established guidelines on proper whale shark watching intended to maintain safety and to defend the creatures from over exploitation.';

Of course, sighting is not guaranteed, but still you have to ';make an effort'; of stopping in the Philippines as a first step.
We were in Donsol last week and had an amazing time swimming with the Butanding (whale sharks).
Over the course of 2 days, we were able to interact with whale sharks on at least 15 instances.
There were three of us... and we shot tonnes of video and pics as we all had underwater cameras.
Wicked!
thanks! that was the type of reply we were looking for. actually we were there a few days ago and had a wonderful experience!!!!
We are planning to go to Donsol early april, and I%26#39;m
curious to know how long this excursion last. Like a couple hours? half a day?
Thanks
april is high season so be prepared thatit will be very crowded then. the best time to head out to see the sharks is in the morning at 7:30. You%26#39;ll be on the boat from 8 until 11 and I promise you -- you will see tons of sharks! I would also suggest combining the river cruise and firefly tour as a beautiful activity which starts about an hour and half before sunset so that you can see the river and its surroundings and through sunset and darkness so you can see the fireflies. I also suggest you book accommodations already. We stayed at Viton which is right next to the whale shark center so it is super convenient. the staff is wonderful, the food is delicious, the ground are so lovely, and the rooms are clean with airconditionng and very hot water in the showers. email annie at annie_buenaagua@yahoo.com to book now. You won%26#39;t have to leave a credit card number. Have fun. I have tips on legaspi too if you want
