Mactan Island V Boracay ???

Hi, was wondering how these two compare. I%26#39;ve been to Boracay and loved it, especially the beach, I mean WOW! Is the beaches on Mactan as good? Also Boracay had a really good fun vibe with lots of live music bars and pretty good food etc all along one strip. Should I try Mactan or go back to Boracay?

Thanks x

Mactan Island V Boracay ???

Hello Sue1303

Mactan Island is a place of factories, slums, industry and the airport. It just happens to have a some isolted resorts on the best bits, mostly with imported sand.

If you want to try something other than Boracay, go to Bohol instead or Camiguin Instead.

It is less than 2 hours by fast ferry from Cebu City to Tagbilaran.

It is less than 1 hour to fly from Mactan Airport to Camiguin.

Let me know if you want more information about these places.

Mactan Island V Boracay ???

You call the residencies in Lapu-Lapu as slum areas???

I grew up in Lapu-lapu, but never did I looked at it that way. These are all new people who migrated in search for a better life, working their way thru the corporate ladder in Mepza companies, be it as a factory worker or office personnel. This explains the numerous shacks. But old Lapu-lapu residents knew better than to call it slums. I hope you%26#39;ll understand, you should choose your own words carefully the next time around. Lapu-lapu beaches is no better than Boracay, and that is the truth.

It used to have its own sands but was exploited by the residents selling it per sack when Mepza companies started sprouting and people building their own shacks. But this beaches still hold beautiful memories from the past, long before so called owners put up their fences. Lapu-lapu is still my place of heaven, and so it does for other people there. So please the next time around, choose your own words wisely. olivia vizcayno

I found Mactan nice, but the hotels are too expensive. I enjoyed the history of the place, Lapu Lapu%26#39;s statue, and then a short taxi ride away is Cebu City with Magellan%26#39;s cross and the old fort. Just an hour or so away by fast Ferry is Bohol and panglao for lovely beaches, more history, Tarsier and spectacular diving.

Or to see the best beaches in Phils go Island hopping in the Bacuit archilpelago from El Nido. Really beautiful...
